It would be a good base for touring or visiting these national parks and outdoor activity holidays. Malopolska means 'little Poland' and is one of the most scenic parts of Poland, sharing the Tatrzanski National Park with Slovakia to the south near Zakopane. The Pieninski National Park lies to the south east near Lake Czorsztyn. One of the attractions of this national park is rafting through the breathtakingly beautiful Dunajec Gorge. The rafts are steered by the local Gorale people. A 2 hour trail along the Dunajec River takes you into Slovakia where you can pay a visit to the red monastery. The Pieninski is Poland's oldest national park and preserves thousands of species of rare animal and plant life.

It encompasses the forested Tatra Mountains and offers all kinds of mountain sports including climbing, walking, skiing in winter.
