If you have a house, apartment, log cabin or other property in Poland that you wish to advertise on the Internet, take a look at advertising on countrycottagesonline.net:

Self-catering is a new way of taking holidays in Poland, until now it's mainly been Bed and Breakfast style stays, however, things are changing.

Poles are now living all over the world but like to return to their homeland, to introduce their children to all things Polish, visit relatives and so on.

There is also more interest from other, especially European countries, who are beginning to realise that Poland is an interesting destination, offers cheap skiing holidays in the winter, beautiful national parks and historic cities to visit during the summer, and that their money will go so much further.

Enjoy day trips to Krakow

krakow accommodation poland
The main square in Krakow is lined with cafes during the summer months

Not only will you find lots of cafes, restaurants, bars but also some very interesting shops in and around the main square.

Some people come to Krakow for weekend gourmet breaks because you can wine and dine at very reasonable prices. Buy a few lovely pieces of glass or china for your dinner table back home as a momento of your trip.

What to see and do near Krakow, Poland

We have been to Poland many times now and would recommend the following activities and places to visit in south Poland:

  • Visit the castle (Wawel) in Krakow, the cathedral where numerous Polish kings and queens are interred, Krok the dragon for children
  • The main square in Krakow to eat and drink, plus a couple of churches to get an idea of the love and honour bestowed upon these
  • Boat ride on the Wisla or Wistula that flows through Krakow, if one is available (during summer). If you can, coincide your trip with one of Krakow's festivals or New Year.
  • The Wieliczka salt mines are a must.
  • The former concentration camp at Auschwitz is a pilgrimage but should be done once. Perhaps combine with a tour of the Jewish quarter, Kazimierz, in Krakow. Visit Oskar Schindler's factory immortalised by the film Schindler's List. Eat at a kosher restaurant. The Judaica Museum in ul. Meiselsa 17 runs a permanent exhibit of Jewish life in Poland.
  • Go white water rafting on the Dunajec river and walk in the Pieninski national park
  • Take a trip or two to Zakopane to enjoy the mountains, ski, shop, take a cable car ride, try out the fantastic new aqua park.

... and all this just to begin with. There are lots of interesting places to visit, beer factory tours, national parks teeming with wildlife, early wooden architecture.... meet the Polish people, discover the food, drink and culture...
