Most holidaymakers head for the cities of Cracow or Warsaw. Cracow is especially beautiful because it has many original buildings - it survived the second world war because a certain general did not follow commands.

Take the Zakopianka road south out of Cracow and head for Zakopane, a small town at the foot of the Tatra mountains. The scenery in this area is truly beautiful.

Our holiday home is in the spa and ski town of Rabka Zdroj, about two thirds of the way along the main highway from Cracow to Zakopane. It's a good central base for exploring this part of Poland.

Holidays in Poland and Gorale

The Highland people or Gorale, dressed in their traditional embroidered woollen trousers and waistcoats are a feature of this part of Poland.
